From the village head westwards towards the crescent beach of Dunaverty Bay , onto the road to Keil and onwards through productive farmland to Amod where you will start climbing towards the Scottish Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Largiebaan.
Map and compass skills are often needed here as the waymarks may be hidden by mist and the path is not always clear on the ground. We would recommend that walkers be prepared for this section by wearing waterproof, high ankle boots and if the weather is inclement, waterproof trousers. You might also wish to consider using walking poles on the steep areas around Largiebaan. The path takes you over open moorland to Innean Glen and then heads inland towards Ballygroggan.
From Ballygroggan join the public road for a steep descent into the village of Machrihanish with the islands of Islay and Jura to your left providing a wonderful finale to your journey. Machrihanish offers an excellent range of accommodation or a regular bus service on into Campbeltown.
